Oldham Athletic were saddened to learn of the death of the originator of the 'Zigga Zagga' chant, Eric Bottomley, who passed away earlier this year.
Bottomley emigrated to Australia in the 70's but remained an avid Oldham Athletic fan throughout his life and upon his final wishes, has had his ashes scattered at Boundary Park.
Crowds flocked from all over the world to Church Hall in Shaw to pay their respects to Bottomley, who died at the age of 69.
After his death, Bottomley was awarded the Australian medal for his 25 plus years of passionate service, vision and sacrifice to environmental education, the pioneering of CERES and sustainability.
The club's thoughts are with his family at this present time.
