Support Latics Youngster To Realise His Dream

16 June 2014

Latics employee Matty Street has reached the final of The Blair Project and now needs your support to win the competition.

Matty, who works in the club shop during matchdays, has been karting since the age of 12 and your vote could win the 17-year-old a £30,000 sponsorship deal for the youngster to realise his dream.

Karting is the first stepping stone for young drivers who wish to pursue a career in motor sports. Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button, Max Chilton, Paul Di Resta and David Coulthard all started out in karting along with the likes of Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Ayrton Senna.

Born in Moorside, Matty said: "Motorsport is the one thing I have a huge interest for. Like every young racer, the dream is be a Formula 1 driver. Can I get there? Who knows, but your vote will certainly help me get closer to this dream."

"This means so much to me. I really want to take my motor racing career further and become a professional racing driver but I can’t because I don’t have the money. The Blair Project Rising Stars competition is my only lifeline and I would really appreciate it if local people could vote for me."

To vote, please like his YouTube video or alternatively, like Matty's video on Facebook.

For more information, please visit The Blair Project website.

The winner will be revealed on Tuesday, July 1 so please cast your vote now to help a young Latics fan achieve his dream.
