Latics youth team player Danny Byrnes has been selected for the Wales Under 17 squad to take part in the UEFA Elite group.
The youngster, who made the bench for yesterday's game with Rotherham United, will fly out to Russia later this month to take part in the group.Spain, Russia and Switzerland are Wales' opponents and youth team manager Tony Philliskirk believes it's a great opportunity for the youngster to progress.
He said: "I'm very proud. The games they have got is fantastic so it will be a great experience for the lad. It's something he deserves because his performances for the youth team have shown he's a player with great potential."
