J D Williams Team Of The Week

22 March 2014

We would today like to welcome Chaddy Park Vipers under 8s to Boundary Park who are our J D Williams Team of the Week for this afternoon's fixture against Crawley Town.

Here is a little more information about the club:

Chadderton Park F.C. has not always been the efficient, well run club that you see today. In fact, the club’s development from its humble origins is quite an incredible story.
Early in summer 1979, Jack Halliwell of Ferney Field Road Chadderton, a renowned football coach and referee, met some lads playing football in the local streets. He offered to coach the lads in the basic skills of football and the coaching sessions soon became a regular event.

In 2013, Chadderton Park FC became known as Chadderton Park Community Sports Club and now has approximately 50 teams, with more and more people joining to become part of the club. Chadderton Park has recently decided to expand the sports on offer so that more people can participate in sports like netball and rounders. The club have also recently won the Manchester FA Community Club Of The Year award in 2013.

Chadderton Park Vipers:
The team are coached by Lee and Emma Hadfield. The team were formed in 2011 and originally only took part in weekly training sessions. Shortly after the teams formation they then entered the Manchester mini-soccer league. The team quickly gained confidence each week as their skills and game understanding increased.

The team this season play 7-a-side in the North Bury League with performances only continuing to improve. Recently, the team entered a local tournament with the boys unlucky to lose to the eventual winners in the semi-finals. Since the tournament, the boys have played exceptionally well, enjoying their football and remaining unbeaten.

Today is also a special day for Vipers' Max and Alfie as they celebrate their 8th birthday. From all the team, parents and everyone here at Oldham Athletic, happy birthday Max and Alfie.
