Contract Extension For Philliskirk

2 May 2014

Latics' top goalscorer Danny Philliskirk has signed a two year contract extension with the club, with an option of a third year.

The forward has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season for the club, contributing three assists.

Speaking about his new contract, Philliskirk was delighted to have signed. He said: "I was given a chance at the start of the season. From where I was a year ago to where I am now, I am in a much better position.

"At the start of the season I was struggling for a club. Luckily the gaffer took a chance on me and I've played over 40 games this season which I'm grateful for."

"I can't obviously rest now. I've got to kick on and continue to score more goals in the next couple of seasons and contribute more to the team.

"I want to get more goals next season and we can easily push on from this unbeaten run and fly up the table."

Gaffer Lee Johnson believes his contract extension is a reward for an impressive season with Latics.

"He's done really well and I've been pleased with him this season," admitted the 32-year-old.

"For him to come from the academy system to playing over 40 games this season has been exceptional. There is scope for him to improve and I'm looking forward to working with him for the remainder of his contract.

"We're still speaking to several players at the moment and we've got lots of decisions still to make."
