Johnson Predicts Good Times Ahead

4 May 2014

Latics manager Lee Johnson believes his side can kick on into next season after finishing the campaign ten games unbeaten.

The draw with Notts County on Saturday ensured Latics finished 15th in Sky Bet League One.

Although this is an improvement on last season's position, the manager is disappointed not to finish higher in the division.

He said: "We wanted progression and that is what we've got. I'm not going to sit here and say it has been an outstanding success of a season because in my opinion it hasn't.

"I always want to win and I'm disappointed not to have won today's game. We have come a long way this season. You can see we have gone ten unbeaten and we want to take that form going into next season."

With a full season of management under his belt, Johnson believes Latics can become a strong force in the division next season.

"The positives are that we'll have better atmospheres here next season. We'll have more of an experienced team and staff," the boss added.

"Football has a habit of slapping you in the face but with the procedures we have in place, I can only see us getting better."
