Mills: "We Deserved A Point."

24 November 2014

Full back Joseph Mills felt his side were good value for their point against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for Latics this season which saw him win the October Player of the Month award.

Speaking about Saturday's performance, Mills believed that a point was a fair result. He said: "I think we deserved a point there especially from the first half performance.

"We were in control but we knew they would come out in the second half and press us and try and either draw or win. We were unfortunate to concede the goal but on the grand scale of things, it is a good point considering all the other results in the division.

"The game opened up in the second half. It is a big pitch so the longer the game went on, it was always going to get stretched but we had a few chances and they had a few chances. Overall I think the draw was probably the right result."

When asked whether the club can go on another unbeaten run, the former Southampton and Burnley defender answered: "That's the plan.

"Hopefully we can get a few more wins in this run but we take it game by game. If we can put in the same level of performances, we can keep getting the results."

Preston North End are the visitors for tomorrow's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash and Mills has set his sights on another Wembley appearance.

"We will take the positives from this game and move on to Tuesday. It is a good chance to get to Wembley and we have played them before so we know what kind of threat they hold. We go into the game on the back of the draw and we will rest up and go again," said the full back.
