Fresh Opportunity Excites Ibehre

10 October 2014

Jabo Ibehre is looking to hit the ground running with Oldham Athletic after signing on loan until January 10.

The striker, who signed from Colchester United yesterday, has only played one game for the U's this season, ironically against Latics, and is looking to add an extra bit of quality to fire the side up the table.

He said: "I was looking for fresh opportunity and I want to do well for this football club. I played against the club on the first game of the season and you were really good and strong so I'm really looking forward to the challenge. The lads are doing really well at the moment and I hope to contribute to that.

"I want to score goals here and hopefully I'm that man to get the goals. I spoke to the gaffer and he wants to improve my game in certain aspects so as long as people are creating chances, I should be in there finishing them off.

"I'm grateful to the manager for the opportunity and I hope to repay him in the three months that I'm here."

Manager Lee Johnson echoed Ibehre's quotes, stating: "I've always been an admirer of his play so I'm looking forward to seeing him in action. He is a real threat to the opposition and I'd rather him in our squad than anybody else's.

"We feel Jabo's attributes can help our other players and our other players can help him. I'm sure he wants to come in and score goals and hopefully he will come in and do that."
