New North Stand - Work Delayed

2 October 2014

New North Stand Update - Work Delayed.

The club have been informed that work on the new North Stand has been delayed following a decision by the lead contractor, Holroy Developments, to withdraw the sub contract for the installation of wall cladding, curtain walling and windows.

Commenting on the decision, Paul Whitehead, Managing Director of Holroy Developments said: "It is with regret that we have needed to withdraw this particular order. The contractor concerned has a great deal of experience in this field and was well known to the design team.

"A number of issues came to light as the work was due to commence and following discussions we have been unable to secure the necessary assurances and guarantees from the initially appointed sub-contractor. It would therefore be inappropriate to allow the sub-contractor to commence work.

"In the meantime we have been discussing the situation with other potential sub-contractors and we will be issuing a new order in due course. We have kept the football club informed and whilst any delay is regrettable this is the best course of action. In the meantime we will continue with other work on the development to minimise any delay going forward."

Club Chairman, Simon Corney, commented: “It was brought to our attention that a change of sub-contractor was necessary for the installation of the wall cladding and windows and the reason behind the late change.

"It is unfortunate that this has happened at this stage, however I believe that going forward the decision taken is in the best interests of Oldham Athletic. Whilst this will inevitably have an impact on the completion date we are assured that the new stand will be fully operational for next season if not before."
