Captain Feels Form Can Continue

12 September 2014

Oldham Athletic captain Liam Kelly believes the side are fully prepared for tomorrow's clash with Gillingham.

Kelly, who was appointed captain at the start of the season, has struck up a good partnership in central midfield with Mike Jones.

In the last three games, the pair have helped the side to three clean sheets and Kelly feels Latics are ready for the visit of the Gills.

He said: "We'll look through videos of how Gillingham line up and look at their potential players to look out for. We will work on things in training over the next day and we'll be well prepared for Saturday."

Latics have recorded three victories in their last three games and the captain never had doubt the team would turn their form around.

"It's been a big turnaround. The games where we weren't winning weren't bad performances and we looked the better team but just conceded slack goals and not scored as many as we should have," commented the midfielder.

"We've made ourselves solid and it's proved vital seen as we've recorded three wins and three clean sheets. We never lacked the confidence and the supporters have come with us so we just need to keep the run going for a long time now."

Although the team are moving in the right direction, the 24-year-old has warned the players against complacency.

"We've got to take it a game at a time at the minute. We can't get carried away but we need to continue with the good results," added Kelly.

"If that happens, there is no reason why we can't be at the right end of the table at the end of the season."
