Kinder & Sport Football League Kids/Girls Cup

19 September 2014

The road to Wembley for children in Oldham starts in September as Oldham Athletic Community Trust will once again be organising local competitions for all local schools who wish to take part.

The two competitions will be the Girls Cup and the Kids Cup. The Girls Cup is for under 13 girls and the Kids Cup is for under 11 children with the winning schools earning the right to represent their school, their town and Oldham Athletic in the national stages of the tournament. The final of both competitions will be held at the iconic Wembley Stadium as the youngsters get the chance to play on the famous pitch.

There are thousands of professional footballers that have never got to play at Wembley, so to be in with a chance of stepping onto the hallowed turf is a spectacular opportunity. Not even Pele, one of the greatest players of all time, got to play at Wembley Stadium!

Last year over 2,000 schools entered the two competitions. Oasis Academy did a great job of flying the flag for Oldham Athletic in the Girls Cup at Barnsley whilst St Josephs proudly representing Oldham Athletic in the Kids Cup held at Crewe Alexandra.

The Community Trust will soon be sending out emails to local schools with details of the local competitions dates, times and venues.
