Philliskirk Eyeing Promotion

29 September 2014

Striker Danny Philliskirk has set his sight on promotion after his two goals on Saturday sealed a 3-2 comeback against Scunthorpe United.

The 23-year-old appeared as a second half substitute and won the game for Latics and he feels they can go all the way come the end of the season.

He said: "We can get promotion easily. There has not been a team this season that has outplayed us I don't think. We have been unlucky in the last three games to not turn those draws into wins.

"We go to Peterborough now and hopefully they will be scared of us following the run we have been on and hopefully we can get the win."

Philliskirk has been a consistent performer for Latics this season and revealed his happiness on finally finding his first goals this season.

"I'm delighted to get the goals. It's been frustrating on a personal level despite going seven games unbeaten because I'm in the team to score the goals and it was a relief to get them," commented the striker.

"We came out in the second half and played with a better tempo. We got around the pitch better, slid balls in forward positions and we put them under a lot of pressure in the second half and luckily the ball fell in the right position and I put it in the back of the net.

"We showed good character to come back into the game and get the three points. Hopefully I can kick on now and get a couple of more goals."
