Full back Connor Brown is expecting a tough encounter with Bristol City but believes a victory puts Athletic back in with a play-off shout.
Last Saturday's defeat to Bradford City dented Latics' late play-off dash but Brown, whose contract expires in the summer, believes victory could put his side back in with a real chance.
He said: "There are only four points in it. In the last couple of weeks, you can see how many teams have gone sixth and then dropped back down so it's definitely still on with just seven games to go.
"If we go on another run like we did last season then who knows what could happen."
The runaway league leaders arrive in town tomorrow and Brown is looking forward to getting one over his former teammate. "I still talk to Korey off the pitch and he's a good player," he admitted.
"To be fair, he probably deserved his move as well and I'm glad to see him doing well. He doesn't give much away but they still need to win a couple of games to certify their promotion so I don't think he'll be giving anything away to me.
"They have got a strong squad and a lot of good players but you never know what can happen. They drew against Barnsley so I can't see why we can't beat them."
