J D Williams Team Of The Week

11 April 2015

We would like to welcome Heyside Juniors Under 8`s to SportsDirect.com Park who are our J D Williams Team Of The Week for this afternoon's fixture.

We hope you all have a fantastic afternoon with us and enjoy the match.

Heyside Juniors

Heyside Juniors were formed in 1975 in a garage by Brian Bakes who was then Chairman for 25 years.

The club regularly takes two girls team to Holland as part of an exchange scheme. The Dutch exchange scheme started when Heyside Juniors answered an advert in a football magazine in 1984. The first official trip was in 1985 when the Heyside Juniors went to play at vv Alverna near Nijmegen.

The scheme still continues today, meaning that 2015 is a significant year for Heyside FC in celebrating very important anniversaries. The club grows from strength to strength as in 2000 when the girls section, Heyside Angels, started the club had only 12 teams, Manchester FA has 92 teams registered in total this year.

The popularity of the club continues to grow and the club is very proud that it continues to bring new teams in year on year. This year we have an additional open age team (taking us upto three in total), a Sunday League open age team, Vets team and new younger male and female teams.

Football is changing and there will be further demand for different formats of football as we move into our 40th year.

They have all worked hard throughout the season and are looking forward to our cup final on May 2 at Tameside Stadium, Ashton.
