Forward Danny Philliskirk has full confidence his side can be a force in this division this season as Latics prepare to face Colchester United tonight.
The 24-year-old scored a late header against Middlesbrough last week and scored the only goal of the game to beat Fleetwood on Saturday and believes he can help fire Latics to success this season.
He said: "We feel like we can beat anybody in this league. There are not really any stand out teams in this league this season.
“Bristol City ran away with it last season and MK Dons were up there a lot but if you look at the table this season, it’s a northern league which is good because it’ll attract a lot of supporters to games.
“We go out there and we don’t fear anybody so hopefully we go into Tuesday, pick three points up and then we will be flying.”
Colchester will prove to be a tough test for the players tonight and Philliskirk admits his teammates will have to be at their best to get the win.
“We have won there and drawn since I’ve been here so hopefully we can go down there and get back to winning ways,” he commented.
"They are a team who can be underestimated. They are well organised and it’s a nice ground to play in. Hopefully we can go there, put our stamp on the game, play nice attacking football and score more goals.”
With the striker notching two goals in as many games, he wants to keep his scoring record going. “I can’t just relax, I’ve got to keep kicking on,” he admitted.
"In my first season here I managed to get 12 goals and I’d like to beat that this season. I’ve got off to a good start and that’s not something I’ve done before so it’s nice to get on the scoresheet.
"I have always said if I am in the team I will always put in 100% and try to push the team forward. I want to kick on from that now and take the team forward.”
