Central defender Gavin Gunning has signed a short-term contract with Oldham Athletic after a successful trial period.
The 24-year-old, who was released by Championship side Birmingham City last season, has been training with the club throughout pre-season.
After starting his professional career with Blackburn Rovers, Gunning joined Dundee United in 2011 where he captained the side.
Speaking about his move, the former Republic of Ireland under 21 international said: “I’m looking forward to the start of the season and hopefully I can do well whilst I’m here.
“It’s a good group of lads and I’ve enjoyed it since I’ve been in so I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Gunning goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s game with Walsall and will wear the number 21 shirt during his stay.
