Simonas Stankevicius is excited to get stuck in to Sky Bet League One football after signing on loan from Premier League side, Leicester City.
The 19-year-old has signed on a three-month youth loan until November 24 and he believes it is the right time for him to be going out on loan.
He said: "I have seen quite a lot of League One games. It is very good quality and I cannot wait to play here.
“Leicester is a great experience but I need to start playing men's football. It’s a big club but I need to get out now on loan and play.”
Stankevicius, who operates as a striker, has appeared eight times for his country but has yet to appear for Leicester City.
"I have been playing for Lithuania quite a few years now. I came from under 16s to the national team and I have played a lot of games there,” he said.
“I haven’t played more than 20-30 minutes so I need a bit of time to play here and we’ll see how it goes internationally as well.”
His first game for Latics could be tomorrow’s local derby clash with Bury and he has explained to supporters what they can expect from him.
“I am strong, big and quite technical so I can bring the ball down and play with my feet. They are my strongest attributes,” he said.
