Jones Looking To Turn The Club’s Form Around

11 December 2015

Midfielder Mike Jones returned to action last week and is keen to kick on and help propel the club up the Sky Bet League One table.

The 28-year-old limped out of the clash with Rochdale at the end of October and faced a month on the sidelines with a groin injury.

However, Jones is now back fighting fit and ready to guide Latics up the league table, starting with tomorrow’s game with Millwall.

He said: "They had a good win in the JPT in midweek and they are not far off Wembley now. They are a good team and are at the right end of the table.

"I know a few of their players and they are good players but we are at home now. We need to start making this place tough to come.

"Too many clubs are coming here taking points off us so that needs to stop as soon as. We are fresh, had a good weeks training and hopefully we can beat them.”

With the hectic Christmas period approaching, momentum is key going into those games.

“Confidence is massive,” he admitted. “When you are confident you try things which might or might not come off but when you’re not confident you might not try things and go into your shell.

"You need to be mentally strong and you can’t be weak out there. We need to back each other up but we need that win to spark up and get some momentum.”
