Ben's Kilimanjaro Climb

18 February 2015

Ben Ingham, who works for club partner Safeguard Group, will embark on a challenge of a lifetime as he climbs Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

The Safeguard Group are proud partners of the football club, sponsoring the Oldham Athletic Academy and Community Trust.

Ben, who is the Education, Community and Sales Manager at the Safeguard Group, will climb one of the world's highest mountains to raise money for Mahdlo.

Mahdlo is a state-of-the-art youth zone in the heart of Oldham for 8-21 year olds (up to 25 for young people with a disability).

It is open seven days a week, 52 weeks of the year, and they offer an exciting range of activities and opportunities that all young people from across Oldham can access for just 50p as a member.

Recently, the youth team were treated to a healthy eating workshop set up by Ben to learn how to cook properly and teach them a life skill.

Youth team boss, Tony Philliskirk, said: "I'd just like to thank Ben as they are our official sponsors. They do a fantastic job for us, putting all the funding in that they do goes towards running costs and training kits which are vital to us.

"The financial support they give us is fantastic and it helps us run things more efficiently. We are grateful for all the work he has done for us.

"From myself as head of the academy, my staff and players, we wish him the best of luck. Train hard, prepare hard for it and come back in one piece because we really do appreciate Ben and the work Safeguard do for us in the academy."

So far, Ben has raised over £1,000 for the charity and to donate, please email ben@safeguard.uk.com.
