Johnson Wins LG Performance Of The Week Award

13 February 2015

Superb Home Win Earns Oldham The Accolade.

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week the newly sponsored and longstanding LG Performance of the Week award should go to Oldham Athletic following their excellent 2-1 win against Swindon Town.

The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.

Oldham manager Lee Johnson will receive a specially commissioned trophy made by world renowned silversmiths and LMA Partner, Thomas Lyte of London, in a presentation to commemorate the award.

Oldham strengthened their position in the play-off places with this excellent victory over high flying Swindon Town.

Latics stunned Swindon with two quick first-half goals. Mike Jones tapped in the first before Conor Wilkinson capitalised on a misplaced pass to score the second and winning goal.

"People see the quality of the opposition – and they saw our quality as well. They saw a spirit which was needed today," said Lee Johnson after the match.

"We have a good spirit. We recruit good people, whether that be staff members or managers or coaches, and I think that’s important."
