Wilson Aiming Victory Over Former Employers

13 February 2015

Full back Brian Wilson faces his former employers on Saturday as Colchester United are the visitors to SportsDirect.com Park.

Wilson captained the U's last season before joining Latics last summer.

Since then, the 31-year-old has been an ever-present Lee Johnson's side and the defender is looking to get one over on his former club.

He said: "A lot has changed. Jabo was a good friend and then he came on loan so I'm not sure he would play on Saturday but it's all changed there now. A lot of young kids have come through so it will be a different set up.

"I've moved on from Colchester now and my main priority is Oldham and getting three points on Saturday. We want to win every game between now and the end of the season."

After Tuesday night's heroic against Swindon Town, Latics face their fifth game in 15 days tomorrow but Wilson admits the players are fully prepared.

"Tuesday took a little bit out of the players leg because we've had a few Tuesday, Saturday games in the last couple of weeks and we put in a shift on Tuesday night," commented the full back.

"It's all about how you prepare and recover from those last games. We had a day off Wednesday and recovered now so I'm feeling as fresh as all the other boys."

The defender is yet to notch a goal for Latics this season but is hopeful he can get one very soon.

"In the last few seasons I've got one or two so I'm due one. Hopefully it will be a winner in a much needed game," said Wilson.

"It will be even better if it's against Colchester. I'm enjoying myself here at the moment. It's my new club and whatever has happened is in the past and I'm only looking forward."
