Oldham Athletic received notification yesterday that there is a delay to the connection for the new electricity supply that will serve the new north stand.
ENWL have advised Holroy Developments that although connection was due to be complete by the end of this week, there has been a delay with the final connection, date as yet unconfirmed. Until the supply is complete, the final installations, testing and commissioning works cannot be done to enable the stand to be handed over and approved for use by the public.
This is clearly disappointing news for all concerned, however all efforts are being made to minimise the delay.
As a result, the club has no alternative but to reluctantly defer plans for the ramp up events, which were due to be held for the first three home matches of the season. Discussions are ongoing with ENWL to remedy the situation as quickly as possible, and to establish whether there is likely to be any impact to other games and the handover programme. Further announcements will be made in due course once a revised programme has been confirmed.
Chairman Simon Corney said: “This is a huge blow to our launch programme and we are both disappointed and sorry that the wait for our new stand to be open is going to be just a little longer.
"We do hope that fans bear with us and can see that the end is in sight. We will accommodate all fans that have already purchased tickets for these games and arrangements for alternative seats will be advised shortly.”
