New recruit George Green has vowed to excite supporters after officially joining the club yesterday on a two-year contract.
The 19-year-old, released by Everton last season, has promised supporters he will bring goals to the team and he cannot wait to get started.
He said: "I can't wait to start competitive games. It's been a long time since I've started a game and I can't wait to get back playing.
"I hope to excite the fans. They pay good money on a Saturday to watch us so I want to get them out their seats and cheering and I hope I can do that."
The youngster, who moved from Bradford to the Toffees aged 15, is now looking to rebuild his career with Latics and is enjoying working within a first team environment.
"It's different from what I've known in the past because I've only played for the under 21's but I'm loving it. Working with the actual gaffer at the football club is a new experience for me and I'm loving every minute of it.
"I got a lot asked of me [at Everton] and I did what I could there but unfortunately that wasn't enough. I'm now at Oldham and I wish to do my best here to get us up. I just want to fulfil my potential and crack on here."
Green has settled in well to life at the club but expects to be kept on his toes as the manager prepares the side for the start of the new League One season.
"It's been very tough but I feel there is more to come from me. I think all the lads are great, they are trying hard and I think we have a good season ahead of us.
"I expect competition for places. I know it's not going to be a walk in the park to get into the squad because that doesn't happen at any club.
"I hope this pre-season will prove to the gaffer that I am ready for it. I want to play in this first team and I want to keep my place when I get my chance."
