The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup will take place on Tuesday, June 16 at 10am.
Latics have faced Championship opposition at home in the last two seasons as Derby County and Middlesbrough were the visitors.The last time Athletic reached the second round of the competition was during the 2007/08 season as Craig Davies rounded off the scoring in a comfortable 4-1 victory over Mansfield Town.
Darren Kelly's men have been unseeded for the first round and could face any team from the Championship or from the top 12 of League One last season.
Details of the draw will be released at 10am on June 16.
