Tony Humes - The 49-year-old guided the U's to League One survival on the last day of the 2014/15 season after defeating play-off winners Preston North End on the final day of the season.
Humes took over in September 2014 following Joe Dunne's departure.
He had previously held the head of youth role at Colchester United, and upon his appointment, he introduced several of the younger professional into the starting squad.
As a player, Humes played for two teams in a career which spanned 15 years. He made over 100 appearances for Ipswich before making over 200 appearances for Colchester United.
The defender scored 19 goals in his career before making the transition into coaching.
In his 45 games in charge of the U's last season, Humes won 16 of his 45 games, losing 19.
The bookies believe Humes will have a tough job keeping the U's in Sky Bet League One next season as they are second favourites for relegation.
Key player:
Chris Porter - The 31-year-old will be a familiar face at Oldham Athletic after plying his trade with the club for two years between 2005 and 2007.
Porter made the controversial move north of the border after firing 28 goals in 66 appearances for Latics.
Since then, the forward has enjoyed spells with Derby County, Sheffield United and the U's.
Porter helped guide Colchester to safety last season, netting seven goals in 21 appearances.
Head-to-head:
The history books show that Latics have played Colchester United 44 times in all competitions, winning 14 and losing 13.
In the two fixtures between the two last season, Latics and Colchester played out a 2-2 draw at the opening day of the season after Jonathan Forte's double.
The reverse fixture at SportsDirect.com Park ended in a 1-0 victory for the U's.
