VIDEO: Alex Williams Believe And Achieve

12 May 2015

This moving tribute to an inspirational young man was played at the End of Season awards dinner.

Alex Williams was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia at the age of seven years of age.

A huge Oldham Athletic supporter, Alex set up his own charity called the Alex Williams Believe and Achieve Trust.

The Believe and Achieve Trust aims to increase the physical and mental health of those affected by meningitis and support sufferers wishing to succeed in sport.

Alex sadly passed away on August 1, 2012 but since his sudden death, his parents, Alison and Wayne Williams, pledged to continue his important work in supporting others whose lives have been affected by this terrible disease.

Along with their charity work, Alison and Wayne also run Rumour Entertainment who decorated the room and provided the entertainment for the awards night.

On the night, they also sponsored the Young Player of the Season award, which was won by midfielder Carl Winchester.

It was announced on the night that the Believe and Achieve Trust will pledge their support towards the Oldham Athletic Youth Academy and Community Trust next season.

Thank you to Alison, Wayne, and everyone associated with the Believe and Achieve Trust and thank you Alex for being such an inspirational person.
