Dunn Aiming To Extend Unbeaten Away Record

12 November 2015

Manager David Dunn is aiming to continue the club's unbeaten away league record on Saturday as he takes his side to Chesterfield on Saturday.

Latics are yet to lose in the league away from home this season and the gaffer admitted his side can cause the Spireites problems on Saturday.

He said: "It's going to be a tough game for us. Chesterfield scored four goals on Monday night so our back four will have to be on guard.

"Novak and Ebanks-Blake are a very good competitive front two for them and they have good pace out wide but we can give them problems as well.

"We all want to play the best football we can but like anything, it's about getting results. Sometimes you might have to tweak that if you're not getting the results but certainly away from home this season we are unbeaten.

"It's important we keep that run going and improve on our home form because that's going to be key.

"I went down to FC United to watch and we've seen them a couple of times now. We have our game plan and know what we think can work so we'll go with that.

"I know Dean [Saunders] from our time at Blackburn Rovers so it will be good to see him."

Dunn will welcome back Liam Kelly and Jay Fulton this weekend and there is good news for Mike Jones and James Wilson.

"Both Kells and Jay will be back in contention and they are two big pluses for us that's for sure," he said, before adding: "It's better than we first thought for Mike.

"He's come on well and I don't think it's going to be too long before we see him back. James hurt himself on the Friday before the game with Mansfield so he had to sit out Saturday but he's back in training now so we'll see how he is ahead of this weekend."

With the busy Christmas period coming up, Dunn has been further boosted by the potential return of his main frontman.

"Jake [Cassidy] could be coming back into full training very quickly so we'll monitor that," the 35-year-old admitted.

"He'll be a great addition to have him back into the squad because I think we've missed him."
