Kids Cup Competition Gets Underway

12 November 2015

Oldham Athletic Community Trust's Kids Cup competition got underway this morning as 12 local primary schools competed for a chance to progress to the next round of the competition.

In total, nearly 100 young children were present at the event, which will see more schools competing in a further two qualifying rounds over the next two weeks before a finals day in January.

The Football League Kids Cup competition is a national competition with the grand final being played at Wembley Stadium prior to the League One play-off final. Last year South Failsworth made it all the way through the competition and represented Oldham Athletic at Wembley in the final running out 1-0 winners against Crawley Town.

The schools that competed this morning were: St Marys Failsworth, Richmond, Westwood, Corpus Christi, South Failsworth, Hodgeclough, St Johns, Yew Tree, Stoneleigh, Firbank, St Edwards and Hey With Zion.

Oldham Athletic Community Trust would like to thank everyone for attending this morning and good luck to Stoneleigh, St Marys and South Failsworth who have all progressed through to the finals day.
