Joseph Mills believes the club will bounce back tomorrow as they head Gresty Road to face Crewe Alexandra.
Seven days ago, Latics went into the game with Barnsley looking for a third straight win, however, defeat at home to them and Southend mean they are now looking for a response to put things right.
There is no better place to put it right at Gresty Road tomorrow afternoon as Latics look to extend their unbeaten away record this season.
Asked about why the home form does not replicate the away form, Mills responded: “There is a mentality at home being the home team, to attack, to score goals, to play entertaining football, whereas when you play away from home, you have the luxury of being able to sit back and see what they throw at you.
"They may either counter or adjust your style of play so I think that’s what we’ve done well. I think we can bring that into our home form but we will be going into Saturday to get the right result.
“If we get a clean sheet then excellent because it will be easier to win the game. First and foremost we want to put in a performance that we want to see and the fans want to see and get the win.
"This period of the year means we get a lot of Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday games so when the results don’t go right, there is a chance to put it right straight away. That’s exactly what we will be looking to do when we step out on Saturday.”
Latics currently occupy the final relegation spot, however, Mills is adamant the club will turn around their fortunes soon.
“I wouldn’t say these are dark times,” he admitted. “We’ve still got half a season and probably more so it’s not like we are going into the final chapter of the season where we are.
“We have plenty of time to put it right and we have players coming back into the side from injury which is going to make us stronger, especially up top.
“I think it’s a testing time but one I fully expect us to come out the other side.”
