Philliskirk Felt Victory On Saturday Was Deserved

16 November 2015

Saturday’s match-winner Danny Philliskirk felt his side deserved the three points on Saturday against Chesterfield.

The 24-year-old struck in the final three minutes of the game to seal the impressive victory at the Proact Stadium and that continued the club’s unbeaten away record this season.

He said: "It was a good win. First half was a little disappointing but I thought we played some good football at times but in the final third we lacked some creativity.

"We went in at half time and the gaffer told us to pull ourselves together. We changed formation and obviously we got the two goals which I thought we deserved because I thought we were the better team in the second half.

"A few weeks ago, we might not have had the belief to come back and today we sat in there at half time and said it’s about us. We came out and dominated the second half and we deserved the win.”

His goal was the second time he has struck in the final few minutes to win a game, with his other against Swindon Town last month.

He took the time to recall the moments he struck for the winner: “Giorgio laid it off and I could hear a few people screaming for it but I just thought I’d hit it, especially in these conditions,” he said.

“I hit it sweetly and time seemed to stop a little bit and I was struggling to see if the ball was over the line but when I saw it in the back of the net it was a big relief and the lads are buzzing."
