Youth team boss Tony Philliskirk praised his goalkeeper Chris Renshaw after the youngster was named on the bench against Mansfield Town on Saturday.
Renshaw has been in impressive form for the youth team this season, earning him a call up to the first team squad for Saturday's FA Cup clash with the Stags and Philliskirk was delighted for his goalkeeper.
He said: "I'm very proud of Chris and he deserved it. He has had a smashing season this year and look at his performance in the Youth Cup last week. It's no argument that he was our best and most important player and the saves he made made sure we went through to the next round so he deserves credit.
"When the manager said that David Cornell might be struggling, I had no qualms in letting him stick Chris on the bench because if anything happened to Joel in the short-term, you could put him into first team action straight away.
"Chris has developed so much over the time he has been here and that's what we are about. It's about trying to produce players for the first team or produce sellable assets for the club as well so I'm happy for Chris."
