Winger Mark Yeates has made no secret of his desire to stay with Latics beyond his current contract.
The winger has been in good form since joining at the start of September, appearing in 14 games, and has sighted a longer stay with club.
He said: "Me and the gaffer have had a really good relationship and it’s no secret that I would love to stay here. I have enjoyed it, it’s a good dressing room and the boys are brilliant.
“It’s a tight knit club and if something can get sorted sooner rather than later then I’ll be over the moon."
Without a pre-season under his belt this summer, the 30-year-old has had to play catch up on his fitness but he believes he is back to his best now.
“I feel fitter and stronger and I think performances are showing that,” he admitted.
"Playing behind-closed-doors games have helped myself and quite a few of the other boys who needed the minutes. I feel good and looking to kick on so I just need a goal now so hopefully that will come.
"I’m looking forward to Saturday, especially with it being the old manager for a lot of the players. It’s going to be a good game for everyone.”
With two wins on the bounce, Yeates believes the players are full of confidence and wants to keep the run going.
He said: “We all know what we want to achieve and that’s to win games. It’s a good opportunity to go on a run now and the best way to do it is to do it on the pitch.
"The talking is great but we spoke after the Swindon game about us going on a run and we put in some indifferent performances. The lads are now fully understanding of what the gaffer wants from us and as a group, everyone is ready when called upon.
“Saturday is going to be a good game and we now have two home games on the spin so if we can show the away form at home, then we could be on a good run.”
