Chairman Simon Corney summed up his thoughts after appointing David Dunn as Oldham Athletic’s new permanent manager.
He said: "I’m delighted to have David appointed as manager at Oldham Athletic. He has been a revelation since he’s been here and on a personal level I can’t wait to touch base with him and talk to him about what he wants to do here. He’s got some great ideas and it’s an exciting time for the club.
"David came here first and foremost as a player but right away you could see the impact and influence he had on the dressing room. He is a guy who has had a great career, he has had an England cap as well, and from day one the lads looked up to him. I have seen a great response from them since he has been appointed manager, albeit on an interim basis, but I think from day one I knew he would become our manager full time.
"Over the years we have proven that we support our managers and David has identified a few players he would like to bring in. We are working very hard to do that. He has already had a couple of players come in and had a positive impact on the team and I think there will be one or two more to follow.”
