CLUB NEWS: Fan Behaviour

18 September 2015

CLUB NEWS: Fan Behaviour.

Oldham Athletic fans have a growing reputation within the game for their good behaviour and vociferous support when visiting away grounds, and we are very proud of our away fans who continue to travel in outstanding numbers.

Unfortunately this positive image is beginning to become tarnished by a small group of supporters who travel to local away fixtures in particular and behave in an anti social manner.

When following the club, particularly away from home, fans are representatives of Oldham Athletic and are seen by the authorities and other clubs as such.

Incidents, including the use of pyrotechnics and violence towards the host clubs stewards, against Bury and Bradford City have resulted in the Police and Football Association enquiring as to the measures the club are taking to prevent or deal with any anti-social behaviour. Ultimately, this will lead to an increase in Police presence at home matches placing a further financial burden on the club.

We would call on all fans to work together so as to ensure we eradicate this problem and further improve the reputation of our supporters.  All fans should behave in an acceptable way at away grounds and give due consideration to their fellow supporters.

For the avoidance of doubt any fans found in possession of pyrotechnics, either at games or when travelling to fixtures will be banned from all home matches.

We would also encourage all fans travelling to away games that encounter any problems to report these to the Supporters Liaison Officer at Oldham Athletic and we will ensure these are raised with the appropriate authorities
