Poleon Eyes Partnership In Attack

29 September 2015

Forward Dominic Poleon believes he can strike up a good partnership with Michael Higdon to improve his game.

The pair combined for the equaliser on Saturday as Poleon notched his first goal of the season.

He said: “I was delighted to get one but I was disappointed not to get the three points.

"Growing up, I played with big men at the side of me. Playing with a big man is definitely going to help the team and hopefully improve my game as well.”

Although he came off the bench to make an impact at the weekend, the striker does not want the tag of ’super sub’.

“As a player, you want to play and don’t want to be sat on the bench,” he admitted. “You are brought here to play and do well so that’s what I’m aiming for.”

Latics travel to Port Vale tonight looking for their first victory since August 15 and he has pinpointed a threat to the Valiants lineup.

“I know the striker Uche [Ikpeazu] at Port Vale and he’s not doing too bad so I’ll definitely be telling the boys to cancel him out throughout the game and make sure he doesn’t score,” said the 22-year-old.

“They are not doing too badly but with our unbeaten run, we can go there and get the three points."
