Oldham Athletic have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of highly-rated youngster Eoghan O’Connell from Celtic on loan until January 1, 2016, subject to international clearance.
The central defender joins from the Scottish giants where he has made six appearances in all competitions.
The 20-year-old has started one game for Celtic already this season, guiding his side to a 3-1 victory away at Dundee United.
Speaking of the transfer, manager Darren Kelly said: “It is a very good signing. I have seen him play on several occasions and I know what he can bring to the team.
“He is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions and he will be a big asset to the team.”
O’Connell will be unavailable for selection for tonight’s game with Shrewsbury Town so could make his debut on Saturday against Bradford City.
The defender will wear the number 21 shirt during his time with the club.
