Oldham Athletic would like to thank all 193 supporters who made the 500-mile round journey to cheer on the team on Tuesday night against Southend United.
We have recently had to issue reminders regarding behaviour at away games following a minority of supporters irresponsible actions, but we would like to take this opportunity to commend our fans for their support on Tuesday night, given the distance and timing of the game.
Some would have needed to book days off work, giving up their time and money to follow John Sheridan’s men and we are very, very grateful.
Supporters pay a lot of money to follow their team up and down the country and night’s like Tuesday night makes everything even more worthwhile.
The fans sang from minute one and were rewarded with the only goal of the game on 66 minutes as Curtis Main fired home to secure Latics the win.
We now want to keep that fantastic support going into Saturday’s game against Crewe Alexandra as we know a win will secure our safety in Sky Bet League One.
It’s important we pull together and seal our status for next season and then plan for the new campaign.
We feel with your continued support we can push on next year and together we can achieve good things.
