Main Delighted With Goalscoring Run

22 April 2016

Striker Curtis Main has put his recent good form down to his continued run of games in the starting 11.

The 23-year-old joined the club in February on loan until the end of the season from Doncaster Rovers.

He missed a large part of the season with injury, but feels he is getting stronger and stronger with every game he is playing.

He said: “It’s nice to be playing and involved in the team every matchday. When I joined I said I had been out for a while and I’d had a few months out with injuries so when I came I wasn’t sharp or match fit.

"It took me a little bit of time to get up to speed but with every game that has passed, my fitness has been getting better. I’ve been getting back to playing how I know I can.

“The loan move gave me the opportunity to come out, get fit and play games which is what I needed at the time. Goals have flowed and it’s been a very positive loan move for myself.”

Main has fired four goals in his last five games to help Latics climb out of the relegation places, and he believes there is a good atmosphere around the place at the moment.

“It’s been a difficult time for Oldham this season, but since I’ve joined it’s been nothing but positive,” he commented.

"We’ve managed to turn things around quite drastically and I’m happy to be a part of that.”

Crewe are the visitors to SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow afternoon and Main admits the pressure if off the visitors so they will need to be wary of their opponents.

“One or two of them will be playing for their futures either there or away from the club so they will still have a point to prove,” he said.

“That might prove to be dangerous so we will have to make sure we take the game as any other game, approach it right and put in a good performance."
