This afternoon’s fixture against Crewe Alexandra see hundreds of local children from various grassroot clubs attend the game as part of the first ever Oldham Athletic grassroots day.
The grassroots day, ran by Oldham Athletic Community Trust, is designed to celebrate grassroots football and encourage younger fans to attend SportsDirect.com Park.
The event has already proved to be a huge success with over 450 people supporting the idea from clubs all around Oldham and beyond. Attending todays game are players from: Boundary Park, Chaddy Park, Failsworth Villa, Oldham Rangers, Oldham Athletic Academy, Saddleworth Strikers, AFC Santos, Springhead, Uppermill, Heyside Juniors, Wakefield Jets and Chadderton Juniors.
Martin Vose, OACT Community Manager commented: “Today is all about celebrating grassroots football and encouraging children to come down to SportsDirect.com Park and support the club. There should be a fantastic atmosphere today in the ground and especially within the family & community section.”
From everyone at both Oldham Athletic Football Club and Oldham Athletic Community Trust thank you to all those clubs who have supported today’s event, we hope you have a fantastic afternoon at SportsDirect.com Park and hope to see you all again soon.
