The Oldham Athletic youth team fell to their third consecutive defeat in the league with a home loss against York City.
A goal in either half secured the game for the Minstermen and youth team boss Tony Philliskirk was less than impressed with his side’s performance. He said: “It was probably the most disappointing performance of the season on Saturday. Whether it was after the Lord Mayors show after our fantastic win against Bolton Wanderers midweek, I don’t know but no disrespect to York City, we should be beating them.
“Whether it was a bit of tiredness due to our short numbers, I don’t know. It was really disappointing performance, we lacked creativity, we didn’t defend both boxes well and overall this season we have not defended set pieces well.
“We need to take a lot more responsibility defensive wise but we did have chances to equalise but did not take them. York thoroughly deserved the victory.
“It was a bad day at the office for us and hopefully they have learned a lesson from that defeat.”
The youth team are back in action this evening as they travel to Staveley Minors Welfare to face Chesterfield in the Youth Alliance league.
