Manager Steve Robinson felt his side deserved all three points yesterday against Walsall.
Lee Erwin went closest to winning the game for Latics but his header rebounded off the post as Latics had to settle for a point.
However, the gaffer believed his side edged the game and should have come away with victory.
He said: "It was a hard earned point but I felt it should have been three if I’m totally honest. We had the lions share of the game but they are a good team.
"They pop the ball around really well and it’s no surprise they were in the play offs last year but I think we had a lot of the game. We created a lot of chances and I’m disappointed not to win the game.”
The manager singled out praise for two of his more experienced players yesterday: “Paul Green was excellent today and he’s been good every game,” he said.
“Both him and Peter Clarke have been excellent since they walked through the door and you know what you get with both of them.
“You get a consistent seven out of 10 every game and they lead the other boys."
It’s a quick turnaround for Latics as they face Northampton Town on Tuesday night: “I don’t think there are any easy games in this division,” he admitted.
“If you are not at your best then you will get punished like it showed against Millwall but we will let the boys recover and prepare thoroughly again for Northampton."
