Youth Team Take On Fleetwood Town This Weekend

25 August 2016

Oldham Athletic travel to Fleetwood Town this weekend in the first round of the Youth Alliance Cup.

Latics were victorious in this competition in 2015, beating MK Dons 4-0 in the national final at SportsDirect.com Park.

Speaking about the weekend’s clash, youth team boss Tony Philliskirk said: “We go to Fleetwood Town this weekend in the cup and they did very well in the league last year so it will be a tough game.

"They have had a change of staff this season and they are in the other section to us so we don’t know too much about them but they were good last year.

"The lads have got great spirit at the moment so we just have to keep that going. If they keep doing the right things and do the things we have practised in training then I can’t ask much more of them.

“We will come unstuck sometimes because that’s the nature of youth football but they have the bit between their teeth at the moment and it will take a good team to beat us at the moment.”

The game takes place at Fleetwood’s new training complex Poolfoot Farm and fans wishing to attend should use FY5 4HX.
