Convincing Win For Oldham Athletic Youth Team

12 December 2016

It was a convincing win for Oldham Athletic’s youth team this weekend, beating Lincoln City 0-6.

An own goal just before half time set the youngsters on their way before five goals in the second half secured the win.

Goals in the second half Mason Fawns, Chinedu Uche and a hat trick from Brendy Glackin rounded off a good afternoon for Tony Philliskirk’s men.

Speaking about the game, Philliskirk said: “I was delighted with our second half performance.

“I’ve got to be honest, there were some harsh words spoken at half time as I was disappointed with the first half performance.

“We managed to score on the stroke of half time to go 1-0 up but we were disappointed with the intensity of our play.

“We should have been four or five up in the first half but we just missed a succession of chances, and I told them we needed them to be more ruthless.

“Callum O’Neill hasn’t made a save, our defence was solid but we weren’t good enough in the final third.

“Our words at half time seemed to work because within five minutes of the second half we were 3-0 up.

“We played a lot more simpler, quicker and took less touches and we ended up running out comfortable winners in the end in what was a strong performance.”
