Oldham Athletic Spread Festive Cheer To Local Hospital

15 December 2016

Oldham Athletic players delivered festive cheer to the children’s ward of the Royal Oldham Hospital yesterday.

Five members of the squad were in attendance to deliver presents to children who are unfortunate to be in hospital this festive period.

Captain Peter Clarke, Paul Green, Brian Wilson, Billy Mckay and Jamie Stott, along with manager Stephen Robinson, hand delivered the presents to the children in an eye opening day.

The gaffer said: “Visits like this make you realise how lucky you are in life. You see a lot of kids in here and a lot of parents worried sick but the nurses here are tremendous and do a great job.

“We’ve come up here to try and cheer people up, give out a few presents out to some of the kids. Some of them are delighted to be able to get home soon but some will be in here over Christmas so it does make you realise how lucky you are.

“To come here and see the hours and dedication of the staff, nurses and doctors then it really does put a game of football into perspective.”

Captain Peter Clarke added: “We have enjoyed a bit of the magic gone on today so hopefully that has perked one or two children up.

“Coming here and seeing children who aren’t 100% is tough but they are being well looked after here who do a fantastic job.”
