One Win Can Change Everything States Ripley

30 December 2016

Oldham Athletic number one Connor Ripley knows one win can change the whole atmosphere around the club.

Latics currently sit bottom of Sky Bet League One, three points away from survival with a game in hand.

However, Ripley, who has been in impressive form all season, knows if Latics win and results go our way, it could be a completely different story.

He said: “At the end of the day, if we beat Fleetwood Town and the other games go our way then we are out the relegation zone and we have a game in hand.

“We have to find a silver lining because everyone thinks it’s doom and gloom at the moment but we are still there.

“We have the game in hand which we need to win and I think we just need to keep our heads down and get on with it.

“The gaffer has told us that if we get the goals and start winning games then we can get out of this situation easily.”

Latics have already beaten Fleetwood Town this season and Ripley believes the team can draw confidence from that game.

“We beat them in the Checkatrade Trophy and we played really well when we went there,” he commented.

"We won 2-0 and it was a good game. We won comfortable and all we have to do is keep ourselves composed and play like we know we can.”

The fans are expected to travel in their numbers to the game tomorrow and Ripley spoke of his appreciation to all supporters.

“The fans come a long way and spend a lot of money to support us so we need to repay them to be honest,” he said.

"They have been amazing considering what has been going on. They have stuck by us, coming to support us on the cold nights.

“We do really appreciate it because it does keep us going so we need the backing of them."
