Dummigan: “It Was A Very Special Moment.”

24 February 2016

Burnley loanee Cameron Dummigan described his first professional goal as a special moment.

The 19-year-old swept the ball home from the edge of the box after capitalising on a mistake from Peterborough United full back Kgosi Ntlhe.

Dummigan has played 15 times for Latics this season and has recently found himself playing in a midfield role, and he started off by talking through his goal.

He said: "I wasn’t even looking at the goalkeeper when I struck the ball. I was already off celebrating because I knew once it left my foot it was going into the back of the net.

"I didn’t know what to do with my celebration because I was over-excited that much.

"It was a very special moment. The lads have been playing really well and created a lot of chances so I’m just delighted to get on the scoresheet tonight.”

That win secured back-to-back wins and extended the unbeaten run to five games, and the Northern-Irishman believes the momentum is with Latics at the moment.

“Recent performances have been absolutely outstanding from the boys,” Dummigan commented.

"The work ethic has been good over the last couple of weeks so hopefully we will do that in the next game.

“We will go into that game the same as we have tonight and hopefully we will come out with the same performance and result."
