On-loan forward Curtis Main wants to finish the season strongly with Oldham Athletic after enduring a frustrating season with his parent club.
Main, on loan from Doncaster Rovers, has been limited to only eight starts this season, with the rest of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench.
Injuries have limited his appearance but he is excited about joining Latics and he started off by explaining how the move came about.
He said: “I went in to Doncaster on Monday and I didn’t know the move was going to happen so soon, but it did. I just had to get over here on Tuesday and prepare for the game.
"When I found out about the interest from the club I was excited because I feel I need to play games because it’s been a frustrating season. That’s part of the reason why I’m here, to come and play games and to do well.”
The last game Main played for Doncaster was in their 2-2 draw with tomorrow’s visitors Gillingham at the Keepmpoat Stadium.
“Doncaster played them quite recently and it gave me a chance to watch them,” he commented.
“I played a part in that game myself so I had a look at them so I know what they are about and what to expect on Saturday.”
The 23-year-old played the final 25 minutes of Tuesday night’s goalless draw against Blackpool. That was the first time he met his teammates and he gave some background on what it is like as a player to walk into a new dressing room.
"It’s always the same going into a new team. You just have to adapt and get to know the squad and the coaching staff and so far it’s been pretty easy to come in and gel with the lads,” he said.
With games now coming thick and fast, Main is excited for the run of fixtures: “I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
"You play one game and then that’s gone and you concentrate on the next one. You take it one game at a time and enjoy it.”
