Burnley loanee Danny Lafferty believes there is enough confidence in the dressing room to get the club away from the relegation spots.
The full back has played three times since his return to the club on loan and from his assessment, he believes the club are more than capable of getting away from the drop zone.
He said: "I don’t think anybody in the dressing room feels pressure. We all know what we have to do. We have to go out and put on good performances, get wins and get points on the board to climb the table.
“I was on loan at Rotherham last season and that was a relegation battle there which went down to the final two or three games of the season so I’m familiar enough with it.
“Also with Burnley last season, I know you need to fight and scrap for every point so I’m familiar with it.
“It’s all down to me and the lads in the dressing room to get us out of this position and if the manager says we need to win nine games from 20 matches then that’s what we will have to do.”
Latics travel to Shrewsbury Town tonight in a bid to make up ground on their relegation rivals.
“We don’t want to go there and for teams around us to pick up points when we are not doing.
“We will go there and be organised, be hard to beat and continue from the performance we had on Saturday and hopefully that will be enough."
