Midfielder Green Excited To Get Started

29 July 2016

Midfielder Paul Green is looking forward to getting started with the football club after penning a one-year contract yesterday.

Green has enjoyed a playing career mainly in the Championship with Derby County, Leeds United and Rotherham United.

The midfielder appeared in the pre-season friendly game against Wigan Athletic midweek, playing 70 minutes and he explained how the move came about.

He said: "I heard about this move the other day. The manager told me to come down and play against Wigan and it came about really quickly.

"I’ve been training at my first club Doncaster Rovers to keep me fit so I appreciate what they have done for me. I enjoyed myself at all the clubs I have played for so I’m looking for the same here.

"It was nice to get back out on the field the other night. Hopefully I can chip in with a few goals and get some more appearances under my belt.”

The 33-year-old is predominantly a central midfielder but admitted: “I can play a range of positions, the other night I played as a deep midfielder which allowed Ollie [Banks] to get forward more so whatever the manager asks me to do, I’ll do it."

The start of the new season is nearing ever closer and Green is excited to get going: “It’s going to be hostile there and we know what they are all about,” he said.

“It’s going to be a test for us and I’m sure Millwall are one of the favourites to go up, so it’s a good start for us, good challenge for us and it will show us where we are at.”
