Reckord: “I’m Hoping To Kick On This Season.”

12 July 2016

Left back Jamie Reckord believes he has a point to prove after joining the club on a one-year contract yesterday.

Reckord, who joins the club from Scottish Premier League side Ross County, has played at League One level with Coventry City, Scunthorpe United and Swindon Town.

However, he is now looking to settle in the area and prove his worth at this level.

He said: "I know what the standard is like down here. I know what to expect and I’m hoping to kick on this season.

“There is not a lot of difference between the Scottish and English leagues. The Scottish league is a lot more physical but I’ve played in League One before for a lot of clubs so I’m happy to be back.”

The 24-year-old is a full back by trade and believes he is a modern day full back.

“I’ve got a good engine and I like getting up and down the left hand side,” he admitted.

“My first priority is defending but I do like to join in an attack and get involved as much as I can.”

Reckord, who has been training with the club since last week, is looking forward to pulling the Oldham Athletic shirt on for the first time on Saturday against Huddersfield Town in a pre-season friendly.

“I’m looking forward to getting minutes under my belt,” he said.

“I’ve met all the lads and they have all been welcoming so it’s just nice to be back playing football again."
